Collaboration aims to deploy Kalray’s next-generation DPU storage solutions at the new Clever Cloud data center in Paris

Clever Cloud, which is currently settling in a third Parisian data center and enhancing its technology platform, has chosen to combine with French company Kalray and Flashbox™, a storage enclosure that can accommodate up to 24 PCI Express (NVMe) solid-state drives, to solve High performance storage.
Performance, flexibility and openness
Without a central processor (CPU), it uses K200-LP™ acceleration cards with Coolidge™ DPU (data processing unit) that take advantage of the unique and patented MPPA® (Massive Parallel Array) architecture developed by Claray. This chip harnesses the power of 80 cores in parallel and allows data centers that adopt NVMe SSD storage to eliminate bottlenecks and improve performance while consuming minimal power and resources.
A unique concept in today’s market, Flashbox™ as offered by Kalray takes advantage of ultra-fast interfaces and low power consumption. It can therefore provide up to 12 million IOPS through a 2x 100 Gb/s network interface and is based on market standards such as Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK), NVMe/TCP or RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCEv1/v2). It will eventually be offered by suppliers of storage arrays using Kalray cards.

Flashbox™ is currently being tested in Clever Cloud’s infrastructure and will join the new Parisian data center where it will work alongside the latest generation of Clever Cloud installed computation servers. It will allow it to offer its customers greater flexibility in managing storage, but also to support the launch of new offerings.
This development is part of the development of Clever Cloud’s Storage API, which makes it possible to simply assign various storage sources, local, remote or via third-party cloud service providers, to virtual machines hosting users’ applications.
